Every so often a musician comes along in jazz that stamps his name on the genre. With his new release “Gentle Giants” pianist, composer Tal Cohen does just that. Joined on his new release by Greg Osby on alto saxophone, Jamie Oehlers on tenor saxophone, Robert Hurst on bass, and Nate Winn on drums, Cohen shows why he his musicianship and compositional skills are gaining attention. Tal Cohen's unique piano style owes its roots to the Jewish folk songs and classical music he played in his formative years growing up in Gedera, Israel. Cohen moved to Perth, Australia at the age of 16. He later continued his music studies at the prestigious Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, where he completed a Bachelor degree, Honors and Master’s degree in Jazz Performance.
